Who We Are

Primeros Pasos is a clinic in rural Guatemala that has a comprehensive outlook on health care.

With the collaboration of health professionals, health educators, volunteers, and community leaders, Primeros Pasos offers quality and affordable health care and health education to the rural, underserved communities of the Palajunoj Valley of Quetzaltenango, Guatemala.

We incorporate and combine clinical care, health education, and community outreach programs to effectively provide preventative and primary care.

Women's Health Clinic

With the help of Danielle Dittrich, Vanderbilt School of Nursing, Hope Through Healing Hands , and Sen. Bill Frist, Primeros Pasos has  established a dedicated women's health clinical program this year. Danielle, a Vanderbilt Global Health Scholar recipient has been seeing patients since September.  She has been administering routine Pap smears, consutls for menstrual irregularities, cervical cancer screenings and other gynecological and obsteric problems.   Click here to learn more.
